WE’D LIKE TO TEACH THE WORLD TO SING!

singer-silhouette.jpg Bob & Zena Spry welcome Robin Gair & Steve Giles of SSPS to Route 36

Route 36, Salisbury’s award-winning Music and Drama Tuition & Rehearsal Centre, is proud to announce a new association with the south’s premier Vocal Tuition organisation. Tutors from the Southern School of Popular Singing are now offering one-to-one lessons at Route 36’s purpose-built studios just outside Wilton.

Making a return to Salisbury ( where it was established 15 years ago ), The Southern School of Popular Singing provides first class vocal tuition to a wide range of students across the south of England. In addition to its new home, the school has its own studios in Southampton. Their Voice Coaches offer singing lessons for all levels of ability, from children aged 6 through to professional singers wishing to improve their technique. A diverse range of styles are catered for, using innovative methods that have been tried and tested on over a hundred grammy award-winning artists. SSPS founder Robin Gair explains “ The Southern School of Popular Singing is entering a really exciting phase in its sixteen year lifespan. Apart from myself, all of our singing coaches are now either qualified ‘Speech Level Singing‘ voice coaches or are in training to be. In fact, “ jokes Robin , “ in less than a year, I’ll be the least technically qualified coach our organisation will have! But now that we have found such an exciting venue for our Salisbury branch, I am more than happy to continue teaching part time and oversee our side of things at Route 36. “

Route 36 Director Bob Spry is also excited by the link-up:
“ For some time, we’ve been looking for a quality Vocal Coach to complete the team alongside our other top Tutors. Now we’re delighted to be hosting Robin and his people. You might say it’s a harmonious union of two award-winning brands, and we’re looking forward to making great music together! “

For more details, please contact either Route 36 on 01722 744036 ( email route36@hotmail.co.uk ) or Robin Gair of the Southern School of Popular Singing on 02380 868922 ( email robin@ssps.co.uk )

SAVE OUR ROCK FACTOR! - Music Therapy appeal

Route 36, Salisbury’s award-winning Music Tuition & Rehearsal Centre is making an impassioned appeal for funding to secure the future of a thriving contemporary music project for adults with learning difficulties. Formed last May in conjunction with South West Mencap, THE ROCK FACTOR has given an opportunity for people to form a band from scratch, and with careful nurture and guidance develop into a fully-fledged performing and recording act. Since passing their auditions, the band members have been rehearsing every week at Route 36 and have now played their first public gig, performing in January for an audience of over 200 people at the Mencap Christmas party in Salisbury’s Blackledge Theatre. The audience’s reaction was ecstatic, and their performance was judged an overwhelming success.

Route 36 Director and Rock Factor mentor Bob Spry takes up the story; “ It’s a tragedy that Mencap is unable to continue its funding of such a worthwhile project. The participants have found a crucial new way of expressing themselves, and have been learning an awful lot of important life skills too; responsibility, working with others as a team, and a lot more. They have worked extremely hard and come a very long way in such a short space of time, even writing their own songs. We know it’s a tough time for everyone, but we sincerely hope that we can find a way to let them continue so that all their hard work will not have been in vain. “

If you can help, please contact either Bob or Zena at Route 36; Telephone 01722 744036 or email route36@hotmail.co.uk

- SUNDAY 29nd MARCH 2009, 10.00am - 5.00pm -

At the end of November we held our first ever Mystic Market. The day was a great success on every level, and we are already making plans to ensure that the next one will be even better. The studios were full to the brim with Mind / Body / Spirit gifts, practitioners, therapists, artists, free talks and much more, and we’re looking to build on every aspect of the event as we intend to run them regularly. Please make a note of the date in your diary, and we’ll update the website with more details as and when we have them.

As many of you know, we spent a great deal of time and energy tracking down quality practitioners with integrity, and we’re pleased to say that we ( and our visitors ) were delighted with our Vendors, Therapists and Psychic Readers. Among these was Lozen Brown Bear, our very own Native American from the Apache nation, who we hope will be with us again.
Route 36 is Salisbury’s award-winning Music and Drama Tuition & Rehearsal Centre, housed in 200-year old buildings combining character with purpose-built contemporary facilities. With all our rooms situated on the ground floor everything is accessible to everyone, including our disabled facilities. We also have our own free car park.
Light refreshments will be available, and entry for visitors will be just
£ 3.00 per person (under 16s free).
For more details, please contact Zena or Bob Spry at Route 36: 01722 744036 / route36@hotmail.co.uk .

OPEN MIC NIGHT

SATURDAY 14th MARCH, 7.30pm ‘til late.

It seems like only yesterday that we were all having a cracking time at our last Open Mic Night just before Christmas. The bar sold out ( late on, fortunately! ) as the roomful of joyous revellers got on down to the crazy sounds of ( among others ) Conspiracy, Emm & Them, Chris Wynn, The Clarksons, Dynamite Dave and Jambo Reign, whilst hooting like hooty things at the dangerous antics of Jonathan the Jester( pictured above ).
Now, with time flying by, we’re looking ahead to our next extravaganza. This will be on SATURDAY 14th MARCH here at Route 36. Doors open at 7.30pm, with entry being £5.00 for spectators and performers alike ( proceeds to our adopted charity for 2009 ). Accompanied under 16s come in free. As before we’ll be running the bar ourselves to ensure prices are sensible. These evenings are opportunities for our regular clients ( and others ) to get up and perform their stuff for the delight of a supportive, encouraging crowd of music lovers. If you’d like to perform ( as a solo artist, duo, trio, band, orchestra, whatever! ), please get in touch. These are great evenings for everybody, with something for everyone.

EVEN ING OF CLARVOYANCE with ANDY FORD

Posted on June 26th, 2008 by Bob. Filed in General.

SATURDAY 5th JULY, 7.30pm

It’s been a while since our last Evening of Clairvoyance, as we’ve been determined to engage only the best Mediums available. With TV increasing the popularity of all things Spiritual, there has been no shortage of people eager to get involved. A few have the integrity with which we would associate ourselves, but too many do not.
Happily, we have found Andy Ford, who has been involved in Spiritualism for several years and is a Spiritualist Medium and Healer. Andy has trained within the Spiritualist National Union to become a registered healer and at the SNU Arthur Findlay College for his mediumship, which is second to none. He has also received training from John Brett and at the Spiritualist Association of Great Britain by tutors such as Gordon Smith and Billy Cook. We’re really looking forward to another fascinating evening of Clairvoyance, delivered in Andy’s laid-back, light-hearted style. Tickets are just
£ 7.50 each - Please book early to avoid disappointment!
